Winter along the Shuswap – Trumpeter Swans

Each year groups of Trumpeter Swans over-winter along stretches of the Shuswap River in British Columbia. Depending on temperatures and snow conditions, these gatherings can sometimes number 100 or more birds. This painting depicts a gathering I observed in January 2017 between Mara and Grinrod on a sunny cold mid-day outing.
